Mr Amit Kumar is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is also the Clinical Director of Sarcoma for Greater Manchester Cancer. His specialist interests are hip and knee surgery including joint replacement and knee arthroscopy along with soft tissue and bone sarcomas. He is a member of the Greater Manchester and Oswestry Sarcoma Service. He undertakes private practice at BMI The Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle and BMI The Highfield Hospital, Rochdale. He also provides a Rapid Access Lump clinic with easy access consultations and same day investigations.
Mr Kumar performs routine and complex hip and knee replacements, including partial knee replacements and knee arthroscopy for meniscal and cartilage conditions. He also operates on benign and malignant soft tissue sarcomas, and benign bone tumours.
Having qualified from the Royal Free and University College London medical school in 2003, Mr Kumar started surgical training in the North West with higher specialist training in Orthopaedics in the East Midlands (South) rotation. Following completion in 2015, he has undertaken fellowships at Leicester, Nottingham and Wrightington hospitals
Mr Kumar has numerous publications, has presented nationally and internationally and regularly participates in audit and management. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and other specialist societies. His other clinical interests include improving patient outcomes, undergraduate education and training.
