Personal profile

Mr Amit Kumar is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery. He is a specialist managing arthritic conditions and performs hip and knee replacements along with knee arthroscopy for meniscal and cartilage conditions. Mr Kumar can also perform joint injections including steroid, platelet rich plasma and viscosupplementation (ostenil).

His sub-speciality interests include soft tissue lumps and bumps and investigation of suspicious lumps. He also provides a Rapid Access Lump Clinic with easy access consultations and same day investigations.

His NHS practice is at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and has been a consultant for several years now.

Mr Kumar completed his medical degree at the Royal Free and University College London medical school in 2003 and undertook early surgical training here in the North West. His specialist post-graduate training in Trauma & Orthopaedics was in the East Midlands (South) T&O rotation. He completed fellowships in lower limb arthroplasty and sarcoma in Leicester, Nottingham and Wrightington hospitals.

During the consultation he always ensures the patient is at the centre of the decision making process answering any questions they may have. He regularly collects outcome data and my practice is evidence based.
