Mr Anant Desai has been a Consultant General Surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham since 2012. He qualified from Queens’ College, Cambridge and the Royal Free Hospital Medical School, London before completing surgical training in the West Midlands. Anant has also undertaken Fellowships at the Institute Gustav Roussy in Paris and the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan.
Since becoming a Consultant, Anant’s practice has spanned the breadth of abdominal and pelvic surgery. He is a recognised expert in the field of Surgical Oncology. The surgical management of the abdominal wall and hernias are central to his practice at the Queen Elizabeth, the BMI Priory and the BMI Edgbaston Hospitals in Birmingham.
Anant reviews for a number of Journals including the British Journal of Surgery, is on the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Surgical Oncology and has an active research programme.
