Andrea qualified in 1991 from Guy's Hospital Medical School, already knowing that her chosen career was in oncology. After housejobs and general medical training she started training in Clinical Oncology in 1995 on the West Midlands Clinical Oncology Training Programme. This gave her experience in a broad range of common and uncommon malignancies gained from 4 different Cancer centres so enabling her to gain knowledge of different radiotherapy techniques which has enhanced her ability to choose the optimal technique for an individual patient.
Appointed a consultant at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in 2000 her site specialist interests are breast cancer treatment and radiotherapy for lymphoma and other haematological malignancies including total body radiotherapy as part of conditioning ahead of bone marrow transplantation.
She has also headed the West Midlands Training Scheme for Clinical Oncology for over 5 years having been integral in training and educating junior collegaues for a long period before that.
