Mr Andrew Port has 30 years’ experience in arthroplasty procedures for the hip and knee. He has led many developments in the field including computer assisted navigated knee surgery, patient specific knee replacement and forthcoming Robotic surgery.
He is also an examiner that has extensive experience in soft tissue knee reconstruction, primary and revision arthroplasty of the hip and knee. He has performed over 7, 000 hip and knee surgeries and has the most extensive experience in the country. Mr Port has developed an enhanced recovery pathway for enabling rapid recovery following hip and knee replacements.
Mr Port is past Chief of Service of the trauma and orthopaedic department at The James Cook University Hospital and The Friarage Hospital. He is also immediate past Clinical Director of the Major Trauma Centre at the South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust.
He is a past programme director of training of orthopaedic surgery in the North East. He also an examiner for the exit exam for the intercollegiate board in trauma and orthopaedic surgery and has led the equivalent Joint specialty exam in Hong Kong and Singapore for seven years. He is a commissioning champion for the British Orthopaedic Association commissioning champion and is a panel member for the Royal College of surgeons Invited review team.
