He qualified from Amravati University, India in 1990. He then completed three years of postgraduate training in Anaesthesia in Mumbai to qualify as a Consultant Anaesthetist in 1993 and subsequently worked in the premiere medical institutes in India. He moved to the UK in 1997 and undertook further specialist training across London, the Midlands and Newcastle upon Tyne. He completed advanced pain training at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and then worked as an Instructor in Pain Management at the Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, USA for over a year. He has been a Consultant in Pain Management & Anaesthesia in the NHS since 2006.
He is President of the Neuromodulation Society of UK & Ireland and Honorary Treasurer of the British Pain Society. He has had many other national roles in the past. Dr Gulve is specialised in interventional pain management and has got particular expertise in Neuromodulation. He mentors younger colleagues and teaches and trains pain professionals in the UK and across Europe. Dr Gulve is involved in a number of research trials and has many national and international presentations (>300) and publications (6 book chapters and > 28 papers) to his credit. He is a respected key opinion leader in his field across the UK, Europe and across the world.
He is skilled in all of the mainstream interventional and non-interventional pain management techniques such as: epidural injections (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, caudal), facet joint injections (cervical, thoracic, lumbar), nerve root blocks (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral), percutaneous automated mechanical discectomy, peripheral nerve blocks, radiofrequency procedures (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sympathetic ganglia), sacroiliac joint injections & radiofrequency, spinal cord stimulation for all the indications, sympathetic blocks (celiac plexus, stellate, splanchnic, lumbar, hypogastric, ganglion impar etc) and trigger point injections.
In his spare time, Dr Gulve enjoys DIY, travelling and spending time with his family and friends.
