Fellowship trained orthopaedic spinal surgeon with over 20 years’ experience in spinal surgery and orthopaedics. My clinical practice is exclusively dedicated to spinal surgery.
I have advanced and refined my experience and skills in different pathologies of spinal surgery with more focus on the new techniques in the field with more interest in Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery and the Robotic Spinal Surgery.
I attained my medical school qualification in 1992 from Baghdad University. Finished 2 years of internship to start straight ahead 4 years training programme in Trauma and Orthopaedics and passed the exit examination in 1998. I showed special interest in spinal surgery very early during my training and managed to have my training in the speciality under the supervision of renowned names in the field.
My special interest in the spinal surgery has developed over years to be directed towards more complex spinal surgeries and to include but not exclusive to lumbar and cervical spinal fusions, complex degenerative spinal disorders, revision cervical and lumbar spinal surgeries, spinal deformities, spinal tumours and spinal injuries.
I am a fully employed spinal consultant at the NHS. I joined The James Cook University Hospital in April 2015, an institute that I am happy to serve. I hold the position of Spinal Trauma Lead in the trust.
