Dr Aza Abdulla works at the Princess Royal University Hospital, South London NHS Healthcare Trust. He is a Consultant Physician in general medicine and has an interest in gerontology. As a general physician, his practice involves assessment and care of a wide range of general conditions including hypertension and stroke. As a consultant with a specialist interest in older people, he has a wide interest in falls, bone health and osteoporosis, orthopaedic rehabilitation, and neurological conditions. Dr Abdulla founded the specialist interest group in epilepsy in older people and participated in the production of the first national guidelines on the management of pain in older people.
Dr Abdulla is committed to teaching and education. He has a broad educational profile as an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians for MRCP and Diploma; he has also been involved in assessment at different levels of training of both undergraduates and postgraduate doctors. He has many publications and has recently published a book on the biology of ageing and its clinical implications.
