Dr Beverly Castleton trained at Cambridge University and UCH. She specialises in Geriatric Medicine and currently is employed in North West Surrey as a Consultant Physician working for both Surrey PCT and Ashford St. Peter’s NHS Trust.
In the last 15 years, she has developed a particular interest in the management of Movement Disorders and has about 1000 patients with Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders under her care. She served on the Council of the Parkinson’s Disease Society for 6 years and during that time was both secretary and, subsequently, the treasurer of the Society. This gave her an increasing insight into the problems faced by patients and carers living with Parkinson’s Disease.
Her research interests lie in the utilisation of Telecare Systems to help patients and carers cope with long term conditions and is linked to Imperial College for the evaluation of this research. She is on the Council of the Royal Society of Medicine Telemedicine and eHealth Section and has just been appointed Secretary to this group. She has lectured nationally and internationally on the management of Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders.
