Personal profile

Miss Carol Cunningham has been a consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital since 1996 specialising in high–volume phacoemulsification cataract surgery and difficult cases with weekly teaching of junior surgeons. Other specialisations include medical retinal disorders with laser photocoagulation treatments and intravitreal injections. Miss Cunningham is also interested in the treatment and care of glaucoma patients with medical and laser treatment as well as eyelid lesion surgery.

She was the director of cataract Service at Moorfileds from 1998-2001. Miss Cunningham is the co-author of Cataract Surgery chapter of Moorfields Manual of Ophthalmology. She has been a consultant Ophtalmic Surgeon at Royal Free Hospital and Senior Lecturer (1995-1996) with specialisation in ophthalmoloplastic surgery , medical retina and cataract surgery. She was an attending Surgeon and Clinical Instructor at New York University Medical Center and Northshore University Hospital (1989-1992).

Miss Cunningham has been in private practice in general ophthalmology including anterior segment surgery, eyelid plastic surgery and retinal laser surgery. (1989 -1992).
