Mr Barton qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff in 1996. He undertook his basic surgical training in South Wales before being accepted onto the highly acclaimed Oswestry / Stoke orthopaedic training programme. During this time he was able to perform a high number of complex hip and knee procedures. In 2008 he secured the very competitive and renowned Adult Reconstruction Fellowship in Ottawa, Canada under the mentorship of Dr Paul Beaule. Here, for a year, he undertook further sub-specialist training in complex hip and knee procedures including young adult hip preservation, replacement and hip arthroscopy.
Mr Barton provides NHS Choose & Book as well as a comprehensive private service at BMI South Cheshire.
His NHS practice is at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Leighton since July 2011. He has already performed several hundred joint replacements of varying complexity and can claim infection, dislocation and general complication rates well below the national average.
