Mr Charles Evans

Personal profile

Mr Evans is a consultant Colorectal and General surgeon at the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) with a specialist interest in minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

He completed basic surgical training in London and was awarded an MD from the University of London following research into colorectal cancer and minimally invasive surgery. He undertook higher surgical training at the Oxford Deanery following which he was selected for the National Ethicon Fellowship in Advanced Colorectal Surgery. Before starting in his Consultant post he undertook a further fellowship in complex colorectal surgery at St Mark’s Hospital, London.

He is the Clinical lead for colorectal cancer at UHCW and the Lead for Emergency General Surgery. He performs robotic surgery for benign and malignant colorectal disease with a focus on rectal cancer and hasgraduated from the European Academy of Robotic Colorectal Surgery (EARCS).

He has obtained paediatric surgical training through experience working in the Oxford Paediatric Surgical Department and at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. He performs general paediatric surgery including outpatient clinics and day case procedure.

Clinical Interests

  • Perianal conditions including haemorrhoids, fistula and fissures
  • Laparoscopic and open hernia repairs. Mr Evans holds JAG accreditation for therapeutic colonoscopies
  • Minimally invasive colonic and rectal bowel resections for cancerous and non-cancerous conditions, either laparoscopic ally or robotically
  • Paediatric surgical procedures including circumcisions, hernia and hydrocele repairs and orchidopexies
