Personal profile

Mr Chris Thomas qualified from the University of Manchester in 1992.  He undertook his basic surgical training in Manchester and then undertook higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery in the North West Region. This culminated in a year’s fellowship in lower limb surgery at Stepping Hill Hospital.

Mr Thomas was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in Blackburn in 2005. Mr Thomas has been the Clinical Director for trauma and orthopaedics in East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust since 2008.

Mr Thomas has visited centres in the USA with the NHS Institute as part of the Transforming Healthcare Programme.

In 2012 Mr Thomas was appointed as a Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer by the University of Central Lancashire.  Mr Thomas is actively involved in the training of surgeons.

Mr Thomas is married with two children and enjoys spending time with his family.
