As an ophthalmologist Mr Christopher Knapp is interested in general ophthalmology with a sub specialist interest in oculoplastic surgery. In his NHS practice he carries out cataract surgery and the medical treatment of a wide range of ophthalmic problems including glaucoma.
Oculoplastic Surgery is the surgical treatment of tumours and abnormalities of the eyelid and surrounding area. Mr Knapp treats peri-ocular skin cancers and eyelid malposition such as entropion and ectropion, ptosis (droopy eyelids) and dermatochalasis (excess skin on upper eye lids).
He also carries out lacrimal surgery and treats orbital disorders such as thyroid eye disease. Mr Knapp carried out a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship and was awarded an MD doctorate in 2009. He treats a wide range of neuro-ophthalmology disorders although he does not carry out squint (strabismus) surgery.
