Colin Walker qualified from Manchester University in 1987. He trained as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Manchester and Edinburgh before returning to his hometown as a consultant at the Southern General Hospital in 1998.
Colin did a specialised fellowship in knee surgery. He now specialises in soft tissue knee surgery with a particular interest in sports injuries. His particular areas of expertise include anterior cruciate ligament and multiligament reconstructions as well as a range of arthroscopic knee procedures. He takes tertiary referrals in soft tissue knee surgery from throughout the West of Scotland and runs acute knee injury clinics at the Southern General Hospital and the Victoria Infirmary.
Colin’s sports injury interest involves the treatment of knee injuries in players from a wide range of sports including a number of Scottish Premier League football clubs.
Through his association with the Glasgow Sports Surgery Service (GSSS), Colin is involved in the education of physiotherapists and healthcare professionals with an interest in sports injuries in addition to lecturing to Masters and undergraduate students at Glasgow University’s Department of Sports Medicine. He is also on the faculty of a number of advanced courses in knee ligament reconstruction for knee surgeons throughout the UK.
