Dan qualified from the University of Cambridge in 1989.
He pursued a career in Surgery and was awarded the Gold Medal after passing the examination for diploma of the Royal College of Surgeons. He then decided to change course and trained as an anaesthetist, spending time in both New Zealand and the United States.
He anaesthetises children, adults and provides anaesthesia for the maternity unit at Poole Hospital. He is currently chairman of the Division of Anaesthesia.
