Dr David Whittington has been an inner city General Practitioner based in Tower Hamlets for 25 years. For the last 15 years he has been a part of the consultant team at the Royal London Accident and Emergency Department.
More recently Dr Whittington took up the post of medical director at a busy polyclinic in Harold Wood, Romford which is a walk in centre, minor injuries unit and a growing general practice.
Dr Whittington works at The Royal London Hospital as a GP consultant in A&E for 3 sessions a week and on the PRU (physician response unit) which compliments HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) in a wide range of pre hospital medicine and trauma.
His particular interest is in the narrative form of consultation giving patients an opportunity to be fully heard. Dr Whittington is very involved with the interface between General Practice and A&E and is working on pathways to enable patients to get the most appropriate care.
