Mr David Machin

Personal profile

Mr Machin practices at BMI The South Cheshire Private Hospital and Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is a trainer to a Foot and Ankle Fellow, an orthopaedic higher surgical trainee (Registrar) and clinical supervisor to an SHO level junior doctor.

He is currently the joint lead for orthopaedic trauma at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the associate director of the training program for foundation doctors within the Trust.

Mr Machin concluded his orthopaedic training in an internationally recognised higher surgical training fellowship at Wirral University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, during this fellowship he received advanced training in the management of complex elective, revision and trauma foot and ankle conditions. 

Prior to this he completed six years of specialist orthopaedic training in the Mersey Deanery, rotating through many of the local hospitals, including the regional trauma centres. This followed on from his core surgical training after qualifying with Honours from The University of Liverpool School of Medicine in 2003.

Clinical Interests

Mr Machin's area of expertise is in the diagnosis and management of foot and ankle problems. He performs primary, revision and trauma surgery on the foot and ankle having carefully selected those patients who will benefit from surgery over other treatment modalities. 

Mr Machin will give advice and facilitate onward referral for patients who could benefit from a non-operative treatment for their foot or ankle problem. Examples would include physiotherapy and orthotics (insoles, shoes etc).
