Mr Forster was educated at Marlborough and studied medicine at Emmanuel College, Cambridge and St. Thomas hospital, London. He trained in neurosurgery in Sheffield and Karolinska in Stockholm.
He was Consultant Neurosurgeon at United Hospital in Sheffield from 1974 – 2000. Specialising in general adult and paediatric neurosurgery with special interests in neurovascular disease, uninhibited bladder and in 1985 introduced Stereotactic Radiosurgery to the UK. This latter has gradually taken up more of his time and led to the foundation of The National Centre for Radiosurgery in Sheffield.
