Mr David Richards qualified as a doctor from the University of Manchester in 1987. He trained as a surgeon in Manchester,Glasgow and Australia. His research was conducted on the Intestinal Failure Unit at Hope Hospital, Salford under the supervision of Professor Sir Miles Irving.
Mr Richards spent 18 months studying Parenteral Nutrition, leading to the award of a Doctorate in medicine by Manchester University. He was appointed as a full time NHS consultant in 1999 at The Royal Oldham Hospital. Since then he has continued to work in his chosen field of colorectal surgery, specialising in the treatment of bowel cancer as well as many other common conditions of the small bowel, colon, rectum and anus.
Mr David Richards performs many endoscopic procedures each year such as gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy. In addition he also performs general surgical procedures such as the removal of lumps and bumps and hernia surgery.
