Miss Debjani Mukhopadhyay has been accredited as an obstetrician and gynaecologist by Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and received her Certificate of Completion of Training in 2013.
After qualifying as a doctor in India, she undertook her postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology in the UK. She did her initial years of training in Nottingham University Hospital which she found a very fulfilling experience that helped hone her skills both surgically and in gaining better understanding of patient expectations.
During her registrar training in East of England Deanery where the main university was Cambridge, Miss Mukhopadhyay completed her Advanced Training in Specialist Module in Gynaecological Oncology.
She dedicated a year at the St Georges University Hospital, intensely specialising in open and minimal access surgery for gynaecological oncology. In this time, she was trained by leading specialists in the field, helping her develop skills and purpose.
Her extensive experience has made her competent in a wide range of gynaecological problems. Currently, Miss Mukhopadhyay is a consultant at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust in Essex.
Within her NHS post, she specialises in detection and treatment of early gynaecological cancers: endometrial, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal. She is qualified to perform hysteroscopy, novasure and both open and laparoscopic surgeries for benign conditions like fibroids and early cancers.
She is a RCOG accredited colposcopist and performs colposcopy to diagnose and treat pre-cancer under local anaesthesia, where appropriate.
Her expertise is in management of post-menopausal bleeding, abnormal vaginal bleeding, ovarian cysts, suspicious vulval disorders and menopause. Miss Mukhopadhyay has presented in many national and international conferences.
