Mr Deepak Batura graduated from India with an MBBS. He then did his Masters in Surgery and obtained his Diplomate of the National Board. He further trained in Urology for the doctoral qualification of MCh from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and then qualified to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

He has developed his urology skills for over 30 years in various secondary and tertiary level teaching and university hospitals in the United Kingdom, Asia, and the Middle East. He has previously held the appointment of Associate Professor for both Mumbai and Delhi Universities. He has served as Consultant Urologist at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust for the last 16 years. 

His special interests lie in general urology, lower urinary reconstructive urology, incontinence, upper tract and pelvic urology, endourology, uro-oncology and female urology. He has expertise in urethroplasty for urethral narrowing using grafted tissue, which he has introduced into his Trust. He also treats abnormal penile curvatures (Peyronie’s disease). 

He is skilled in laser treatments, both for prostate enlargements as well as for bladder cancers. His areas of interest include urological infections, which he treats and researches. 

He is an empathetic doctor whose patients greatly value the care and simple explanations he provides, the time he spends explaining their condition, discussing options and then proceeding to joint decision-making in a sympathetic unrushed manner.

He is keenly interested in medical education and is an educational supervisor with the Imperial College School of Medicine and the London Deanery. He has more than 65 publications in reputed PubMed-indexed international journals.

He has vast experience with editorial assignments. He is a Specialist Advisor for the Urology Update Series for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, an Associate of the European Association of Urology Section of Infections in Urology (ESIU), an Editorial Board Member in Adult Urology for International Urology and Nephrology, The Medical Journal of Shree Birendra Hospital, Nepal and the Urology Section Editor for the Bulletin of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has been a journal referee for more than 30 eminent indexed journals and a reviewer for the European Association of Urology annual congress. As a speaker and chair, he has experience in more than 40 pivotal international conferences in Asia, Europe and North America. 

He has done charitable medical work with underprivileged rural communities and slum dwellers in resource-limited parts of the world. He loves to travel and hike in the hills.
