Personal profile

Dr Onwochei studied at University College London medical school, graduating in 2007. She undertook anaesthetic training in South East School of Anaesthesia and she is now a substantive Consultant Anaesthetist at Guy’s & St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

She completed fellowships in regional anaesthesia and airway management at Guy’s & St. Thomas’, as well as an obstetric anaesthesia fellowship in Toronto, Canada. Dr Onwochei has undertaken research in these areas, securing a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals. She has a keen interest in regional and obstetric anaesthesia, as well as advanced airway management having taught on courses at the local, national and international levels.

Clinical Interests

  • Advanced Airway Management:

    She is proficient in awake fibreoptic intubations, the use of a range of video laryngoscopes, needle cricothyroidotomy and jet ventilation techniques.
  • Obstetric Anaesthesia:

    Perioperative management of the high-risk obstetric population, I am proficient in ultrasound imaging of the neuraxis for spinal and epidural anaesthesia.
  • Regional anaesthesia:

    Experience in various blocks of the upper limb, lower limb and trunk.
