Mr Dharmalingam Kumudhan graduated with Honours from one of the leading premier institutes in India. He subsequently had general ophthalmology training in South of England and Scotland. Following successful completion of general ophthalmology training, he pursued his interest in Medical Retinal Diseases (including ocular inflammatory diseases) and Vitreo-Retinal surgery through 2 fellowships at West of England Eye Unit and Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham.
He is currently a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at the Queens Medical Centre (Nottingham University Hospital) Nottingham, specialising in cataract surgery, ocular inflammatory diseases (Uveitis) and retinal (including macular) diseases. Tertiary referrals are received from neighbouring eye departments across the region for management of complex cataracts, severe ocular inflammatory diseases and Vitreo-Retina.
He has promoted the technique of eye surgery under local anaesthesia and has particular expertise in suture less Vitrectomy surgery, combined with the insertion of intra-ocular lens implant. Mr Kumudhan also runs highly Vitreo-retinal surgical practice and is a recognised trainer for Trainees, General Practitioners and Optometrists.
