He was an anaesthetic trainee in the Eastern deanery which included the Norfolk and Norwich hospital as well as the prestigious Addenbrookes Hospital. He trained in the field of Anaesthesia and completed subspecialty training in Intensive care. He also developed a special interest in regional Anaesthesia. Currently, he is practicing as a Consultant Anaesthetist in the NHS and at BMI hospitals.
Dr Ail specialises in the areas of Ambulatory Anaesthesia, Orthopaedic Anaesthesia, Ear, Nose and Throat Anaesthesia, General surgery & Gynaecology Anaesthesia, Difficult Airway Management. He was the faculty tutor in intensive care and Module 4 lead for medical students at the James Paget hospital due to my great passion for educating and training junior doctors and medical students.
He was also involved in Management activities for his previous trust. This included being the trust lead for Audit which involved in aligning the audit department in line with the HQIP principles. Dr Ail was the mortality lead and have developed a deep understanding of various indices such as HSMR and SHMI. He has also been involved in developing a review of mortality cases as well was the chair of the hospital mortality committee.

Dr Ail works as a consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive care. He anaesthetises a wide variety of cases including Major and laparoscopic surgeries in General surgery, Gynaecology and Urology. This can include patients who are high risk for anaesthesia. He also anaesthetise for wide variety of Orthopaedic cases including joint arthroplasties and revision joint arthroplasties. He has developed a special interest in trauma as well as Fracture Neck of femurs as this involves the most complex of patients needing surgery.
Dr Ail has a special interest in Regional anaesthesia, particularly in Ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia . He has experience in doing upper limb and lower limb blocks. He is also proficient in doing truncal blocks such as TAP blocks, PECS 1 and 11 for breast surgeries and Erector spinae blocks. He was the module lead for the M.Sc in regional anaesthesia at the University of East Anglia.
He is also an Intensive care Consultant. Dr Ail involved in managing level 2 and level 3 patients in the Intensive care. He manages patients on NIV, invasive ventilation using modern modes like APRV and also advanced management of refractory hypoxemia. He is used to managing patients on renal replacement therapy. He is proficient in the use of Ultrasound in ICU including thoracic ultrasound and bedside ECHOs.
