Personal Profile

Personal Profile

Dr Davis graduated from the University of London Royal Free Medical school in 1988. She has dual accreditation in both Rheumatology and General Medicine. During her over 20 years as a Rheumatology consultant, she has acquired considerable expertise in all aspects of the specialty.

She is very experienced in the treatment of a wide range of rheumatological conditions including soft tissue disorders such as tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis, back pain, inflammatory arthritis such as psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis, gout and connective tissue disorders. She is skilled in the administration of soft tissue and intra-articular injections, for example those used to treat painful shoulders, arthritis of the knee and carpal tunnel syndrome.

During her time spent in medical research, she focussed on clinical trials of new ground-breaking biologic agents which are now used routinely in the treatment of conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.  This research laid the foundation for one of her specialty interests; the early diagnosis and management of inflammatory arthritis.

Dr Davis has extensive experience in the management of patients with osteoporosis and believes that the promotion of optimal bone health in patients at risk of breaking bones is essential. She uses a fully inclusive approach to the management of all rheumatological conditions including osteoporosis, with an emphasis on two-way communication and joint decision making, leading to a treatment plan which best suits the individual patient.

She has set up early arthritis clinics, an osteoporosis service and a fracture liaison service at her NHS hospital, the West Middlesex Hospital which is part of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Trust. Dr Davis has been clinical lead for Rheumatology for the last six years and has overseen the development of the Rheumatology services at both the Chelsea and Westminster hospital and the West Middlesex hospital. She takes part in regular national and local audits and is the clinical governance lead for Rheumatology. She trains and supervises junior doctors and is an enthusiastic teacher of medical students.

Dr Davis is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and has been a committee member for the British Society for Rheumatology and the Royal Society of Medicine.
