Dr Dimalee Herath is a UK trained Dermatologist with special interests in General Dermatology, Skin Cancer, Vulval Dermatology and Paediatric Dermatology. Dr Herath qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine in 1999, with an intercalated BSc in Neuroscience. She was then appointed to the South West London General Medical Training Rotation, completing her postgraduate training at St George’s and The Royal Marsden Hospitals.

She completed her Higher Specialist Training, culminating in being awarded competitive Clinical Training Fellowships from The British Skin Foundation and Barts and The London Charitable Trust for research in to Basal Cell Carcinoma at The Royal London Hospital in 2010. She has presented at institutions such as The Royal Society of Medicine, The British Association of Dermatologists and The British Society for Investigative Dermatology.

Her NHS consultant post is at Croydon University Hospital, where she treats adults and children with a wide variety of dermatological conditions. She is Clinical Lead for Dermatology at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust.

In addition to the management of skin cancer and pre-cancerous skin problems, she performs regular general skin checks, and is experienced in the management of rashes at various sites of the body. Examples of the conditions she treats include: eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, skin infections such as athlete’s foot and other fungal infections, cysts, folliculitis, acne, seborrhoeic dermatitis, rosacea, alopecia, nail problems, lichen planus, excessive sweating and lupus.

In her everyday practice she works closely with colleagues in gynaecology and is the local point of referral for Vulval dermatological conditions such as Lichen Sclerosus and vulvodynia (vulval pain).

In addition to surgical treatment of potential skin cancers, she also offers benign mole removal, cryosurgery and treatment of skin tags and viral warts.

Dr Herath creates a warm, friendly environment for all her patients and offers an experienced and meticulous approach to the management of skin problems.
