Mr Edmund Fitzgerald O'Connor is a Consultant Plastic, & Reconstructive Surgeon. He specializes in complex microsurgical reconstruction at Guys & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Fitzgerald O’Connor qualified in medicine from St Georges University of London and following basic surgical training he went on to higher surgical training on the Pan Thames plastic surgery training program. He completed microsurgical fellowships at the Royal London hospital & Royal Perth Hospital, Perth Western Australia. His international fellowship focused on Trauma reconstruction, Breast Reconstruction , Hand Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery. He was appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in Australia before deciding to return home to the NHS to help develop the plastic surgery services at Kings & St Thomas’.
He is active in research and teaching, and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary’s University of London, where he helps to run Masters programs in Aesthetic Medicine and Reconstructive Microsurgery.
In his current NHS work is focused on complex major trauma reconstruction at Kings Major trauma centre. This involves operating on most part of the body ensuring both functional and aesthetic soft tissue reconstruction for his patients.
Across both NHS hospitals he has broad range of practice covering, Breast reconstruction, hand injuries, post weight loss surgery, skin cancer and general plastic surgery.
