Mr. Ieong is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with specialist training in foot and ankle surgery.

He qualified from Imperial College London medical school in 2007. He undertook his specialist orthopaedic training in London in the North West Thames London Deanery. He has had a broad exposure to foot and ankle pathologies and trauma. During his training, he has worked at St. Mary’s Major trauma centre and spent a year working with the foot and ankle department at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital where he gained experience in managing complex foot and ankle pathologies and reconstruction. He subsequently undertook a specialist foot and ankle fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, covering deformity corrections and arthritic conditions. This was followed by a foot and ankle fellowship at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, with further experience in complex foot and ankle fractures, trauma, and diabetic foot conditions. Mr. Ieong was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon to West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2019. Since then he has developed the one stop Achilles tendon rupture protocol and provides a shock wave therapy service. He is also trained in less invasive techniques, and is trained in minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair and arthroscopic (key hole) ankle fusion and diagnostic procedures.

Mr. Ieong maintains an active involvement in teaching surgical trainees. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and keeps up to date by regularly attending conferences and educational courses. He has published his research in peer reviewed journals and has presented his work at a national and international level. He was awarded a place on the BOA leadership programme and has developed quality improvement projects in patient education and promoting a patient centred approach to management. 

Mr. Ieong practices with a holistic and multidisciplinary approach. Patient involvement and education is key throughout the consultation and treatment pathway. He keeps up to date with attendance at national and international conferences, specialist clinical courses and is a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and British Orthopaedic Association. 

Mr Ieong was a keen row, rowing for the Imperial College Medical School first VIII. He has competed at Henley Royal Regatta and the annual Head of the River race in West London, as well as winning regional rowing races including the Barnes and Mortlake Head and United Hospitals races. His current interests include in road cycling, photography and squash as well as having recently taken up golf.


Mr Leong sees all conditions affecting the foot and ankle. This includes bone and soft tissue disorders. He employs the latest techniques, including minimally invasive techniques, shock wave therapy, arthroscopic (key hole) procedures, and biologic injections. More specific conditions include:

  • Forefoot problems e.g., bunions; big toe arthritis; Morton neuroma; toe deformity; forefoot reconstruction
  • Ganglions; plantar fasciitis; Achilles tendon ruptures
  • Sports injuries – Achilles tendon pathology; ankle ligament reconstruction; ankle arthroscopy (key hole surgery)
  • Deformity – flat feet; high arched feet
  • Arthritis of the foot and ankle – arthroscopic fusion and total ankle replacement. 
  • Foot and ankle fractures
