Dr Abdelkader graduated from Menoufia University in Egypt. After doing his formal Ophthalmology training in Egypt, he moved to the UK for further training. He completed 2 years of Medical retina fellowship in Aberdeen.

Dr Abdelkader has continuous contribution to research and he has several publications in peer-reviewed journals. He was also an investigator in some important RCTs (Randomized Controlled Trials) such as VIEW II study comparing treatments for wet age-related macular degeneration (one of the most common causes of blindness in the UK). Dr Abdelkader has also written several chapters in important Ophthalmology textbooks. In addition, he is a reviewer for several eminent Ophthalmology journals including BJO, JAMA, J Ophthalmol, SJO, MEAJO.

Dr Abdelkader enjoys teaching and training, a talent that is much appreciated by his trainees. He has delivered many lectures, courses, and tutorials.

Dr Abdelkader is a member of the examiners committee of the RCPSg (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow).

Dr Abdelkader is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.He received an award in the SAARC meeting in 2016 for the outstanding contribution to the scientific program of the conference.

Dr Abdelkader can speak Arabic fluently and he worked in the KKESH (King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital) in the Middle East as a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist for 3 years.
