In September 2018, I retired from General Practice, having been a partner at Stoneleigh Surgery, Milnthorpe for 28 years. Throughout my career, I have had a special interest in women’s health, particularly in contraception and management of the menopause. My intention was to concentrate on the management of the menopause after my retirement from general practice, and in order to become a British Menopause Society recognised Menopause Specialist, I trained with Dr Heather Currie to complete the Advanced Certificate of Menopause Care.
I have a Menopause Clinic at the BMI Hospital Lancaster, where I am happy to receive referrals from GPs as well as self-referrals from women who are experiencing menopausal symptoms who wish to discuss their management. This will include lifestyle advice and discussion about the role of hormone replacement therapy and non-hormonal therapies, based on the guidance from NICE and the British Menopause Society.
