Fazal Ali is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon since 2004 with a special interest in knee surgery. His subspecialist interests include sports injuries and the management of the young arthritic knee.
He trained in Sheffield and undertook Fellowships in Newcastle upon Tyne and New York.
Mr Ali manages all aspects of sporting injuries to the knee using minimally invasive techniques. These include both primary and revision, single and complex ligament reconstructions. Meniscal surgery including repair is also undertaken.
He also offers all the surgical options for the management of the young patient with knee arthritis. These include, partial knee replacements, total knee replacements (with computer navigation guidance), high tibial osteotomies and cartilage filling procedures. Education plays a significant part in the professional life of Fazal Ali. He is Undergraduate Tutor for the University of Sheffield. For his input into registrar training he has been voted North Trent Orthopaedic Trainer of the Year on three occasions (2005, 2007, 2009). He presently serves as an examiner for the Intercollegiate Board in the FRCS(Tr&Orth) examinations.
