Awards:
Presented with the Registrar award at the Congress of the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa in 1992. The judges were Professor S.L. Lightman, Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, England, and Dr. P.R. Laibson, Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, USA.
Recipient of the Tetje Pattison award for Ophthalmic Research in 1993, from the University of the Witwatersrand.
