I qualified as MD at the University of Genoa in Italy in 1986. I specialised in Oncology and Internal Medicine, working as a Consultant at the Cancer Institute in Genoa (1991-2000) and at the S.Croce General Hospital in Cuneo (2000-2002). I then relocated to Swansea, UK where I was appointed Consultant Medical Oncologist at Singleton Hospital in 2003; in 2018 I moved to my current post of Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Sussex Cancer Centre, Brighton.
My academic career includes being an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Medical School of Swansea University between 2003 and 2018, and my current role of Honorary Clinical Reader for the Brighton and Sussex Medical School. I was awarded a PhD by the University of Maastricht in 2007.
