Ginny Bowbrick qualified in 1989 from the Medical College of St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, and underwent her basic and specialist surgical training in London and Kent hospitals. She has been a consultant vascular surgeon since September 2005. Ginny is at present, the Assistant Training Programme Director (TPD) for General Surgery South London (Kings College Hospital Lead Provider) – 2014 to present.
In the past, Ginny was the TPD Southeast Thames General Surgery 2013 – 2014 and the Assistant TPD General Surgery Southeast Thames 2009-2013. In 2013, she became a member of the National Selection Board in General & Vascular Surgery due to her attendance at the National Interviews.
Ginny taught the surgical ST3’s from the SE Thames region on the Emergency Module of the part-time MSc course (KIMHS, University of Kent) and in the Clinical Skills/Competency Module of this course at MATTU (Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford) from 2004 to 2010. She has undertaken sessions teaching ST3-8’s at Imperial College London on the London Deanery General Surgery Surgical Skills programme since 2011.
Ginny have completed the Qualified Educational Supervisor Programme – Part 1 & 2: Certificate in Teaching from the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery in 2009 and 2010 and is both an Educational & Clinical Supervisor to FY1s, FY2s and ST3+.
She has recently applied to become an examiner for the MRCS at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is waiting to hear if her application has been approved by the Chair of the Dental and Surgical Examinations.
