Professor Gordon Carlson is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon. His NHS practice is based at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and his private practice at BMI Highfield and Alexandra Hospitals. His undergraduate training was in Manchester, followed by Higher Surgical training in Newcastle. As well as honorary professorship of Surgery in Manchester, Gordon has an international reputation for clinical excellence in colorectal surgery and has held visiting Professorships at several major North American and Canadian Medical Schools as well as the Karolinska Hospital, Stockholm, and Linkoping and Helsingborg Hospitals, Sweden, where he has been invited to operate on patients with complex bowel problems.

Gordon has a broad colorectal and general surgical practice which includes management of anal problems, colonoscopy and colonic surgery for benign and malignant disease and abdominal wall hernias.
