Personal profile

Dr Gulam Patel trained at Cambridge University & Middlesex/UCH Hospitals Medical School from 1981-87. Following General Medical training he underwent 6 years of Rheumatology specialisation. He has been practising in the NHS & private sector as a Consultant since 2001. He has research interests and a passion for education recognised by a Teaching Excellence Award from Imperial College in 2011. He is also Head of Undergraduate Medicine and has a senior management role as Divisional Director of Medicine at Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH). He has recently been appointed as an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Royal Holloway, University of London. 

Dr Gulam Patel specialises in General Rheumatology and has specific interests in Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, Inflammatory Arthritis, Joint & Soft Tissue Injection Therapy, Spinal Pain, Fibromyalgia and Crystal Arthritis.

Dr Gulam Patel is a popular teacher of GPs at ASPH and features regularly on their Primary Care teaching schedule.
