Clinical Interests

All aspects of Haematology. I care for patients with Haematological malignancies such as Myeloma, Lymphoma and Leukaemia - diagnosis and management, including prescribing and supervising chemotherapy.

I see patients with abnormal blood counts to diagnose and give advice regarding therapy - e.g. anaemias or other abnormal blood counts (high or low platelets or white cells); paraproteins or unexplained enlarged lymph nodes. I also give advice to patients and their doctors regarding thrombosis, anticoagulation and bleeding disorders

Personal profile

As a junior doctor I gained experience in Newcastle and Ealing hospitals followed by the Royal Marsden Hospital as a Senior House Officer in Haematology Oncology. I then completed a 5 year training program as a Haematology Specialist Registrar at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. 1 year of this was in the Leukaemia Research Laboratory (published work on leukaemia gene expression). I was appointed Consultant Haematologist at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust in 2003.

I have been the SDU Lead for Pathology (5 years) and Trust Research Lead and am currently a Foundation Training Programme Director (junior doctor training), Lead for Teenage and Young Adult Cancer care and the SDU Lead (Clinical Director) for Haematology.

I represent Bucks at the Oxford/ Thames Valley meetings to agree regional haematology chemotherapy protocols and guidelines. I continue to publish in the medical literature on quality improvement projects and unusual case reports.
