Dr Ian London is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at The South Cheshire Private Hospital. He trained at St Thomas’ Hospital, London between 1985 and 1990.
His house jobs provided him with a wide breadth of experience in a wide range of medical specialities and early exposure to the exciting new technology that allowed for high quality gastrointestinal endoscopy to be performed for both investigation and a whole range of treatments.
Dr London was accepted onto the King’s College Hospital registrar rotation where he further developed his interest in gastroenterology and general medicine.
His appointment as Clinical Lecturer in Gastroenterology at the University of Liverpool and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital exposed him to first class training in clinical gastroenterology as well as the opportunity to spend time performing lab based research to help in the understanding of the relationship between inflammatory bowel disease and gut bacteria.
In 1999 Dr London was appointed to the post of consultant gastroenterologist in a busy clinical department in mid-Cheshire. Dr London has a full time NHS commitment with an interest in medicine management, undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and helping with the day to day running of the Gastroenterology service. He is a member of the teaching faculty at the Mersey School of Endoscopy.
Dr London is married to a local GP, they have three children, and a small holding where they are fortunate to be able to promote woodland conservation through expanding their own small native broadleaf woodland and also by encouraging local schoolchildren to take an interest in tree planting, as well as helping them to appreciate the native flora and fauna and the value of conservation.
