Dr Lieberman was appointed as a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia in 2001, training in London and the North West of England. His NHS base is University Hospitals of South Manchester, and he worked as the clinical lead of the Multi-disciplinary Chronic Pain Service from 2003-2014. He is now the Clinical Director for Strategic Integration for South Manchester.
Ilan sees and treats chronic non-malignant pain conditions on a both in the NHS and privately. The types of pain condition he manages regularly include whiplash, back pain, neck pain, musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndromes (RSD, CRPS), fibromyalgia, osteoarthritic pain, myofascial pain syndromes & post surgical pain problems.

Dr Lieberman has also worked as a medico-legal expert in Pain Medicine for over 10 years. He is able to advise and report on all of types of chronic pain conditions. Beyond Pain Medicine, he has a particular interest in digital healthcare, sitting on the Telehealth Committee of the Royal Society of Medicine.
Ilan is involved in the planning of the Health and Social Care aspects of Devo Manchester as the Clinical Director for Strategic Integration for South Manchester, and he grew up, lives and works in South Manchester. His pastimes include gardening, mountain biking and boxing training, all of which he tries to fit in around his other role as the family taxi.
