Personal Profile

Dr Imtiaz Ahmed is a consultant dermatologist with vast experience of almost 30 years in managing a wide range of complex skin conditions. On completion of his medical training from King Edward Medical School in Lahore, he decided to specialise in skin diseases. After working as a specialist registrar in several hospitals in the West Midlands and completing his specialist training in 2001, he has been working as a consultant dermatologist and trainer at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for the last 21 years.

His interests include skin surgery and skin cancer. He was instrumental in setting up the skin cancer multidisciplinary team, served as the first chair of the MDT and is the skin cancer lead for the University Hospital. He has published widely in several journals and written book chapters. He is actively involved in teaching, training and examining medical students, junior doctors, registrars, general practitioners and nurses. He has established and runs a national surgical training workshop for new dermatology specialist registrars at the West Midlands Surgical training centre in Coventry.

He is very enthusiastic about providing the best possible care to patients under his care and ensuring an excellent level of training for future doctors and dermatologists. Away from work he enjoys meditation, DIY and spending time with his family.
