Dr Patel qualified from King’s College Hospital, London in 1999. Initially this included respiratory and general medicine leading to general and endocrine surgery. Following on from this, Dr Patel continued with General Practice training locally, including emergency and paediatric medicine, sports medicine and care of the elderly.
This enabled Dr Patel to achieve membership with the Royal College of General Practitioners and complete diplomas in obstetrics, gynaecology and child health. Dr Patel is a GP Appraiser and involved with GP re-validation.
Having worked in the NHS for over 18 years, Dr Patel is a Macmillan GP and has an interest in the the early diagnosis of Cancer. Has worked with Prostate Cancer UK and improved the care of these patients with early reablement and addressing their health needs assessments. Recently nominated as a Diabetes UK clinical champion, is working on addressing the variation in care for local type 2 diabetics through education.
Other interests include health checks and screening tests, vaccinations and travel advice and family planning. Dr Patel can provide second opinions, driving medicals, overseas visas medicals and life insurance.
