Personal profile

Dr Scott completed his undergraduate studies at Middlesex Hospital, London including an intercalated BSc in medical physics. His junior posts were in London, Essex, Bournemouth, Worthing and Barnsley in general medicine, neurology, neurosurgery and ophthalmology.

He was a registrar on Liverpool Rotation including Alder Hey paediatrics and Warrington phacoemulsification programme and a senior registrar in Aberdeen including Orkney and Shetland.

Dr Scott has fellowships in the cornea at Liverpool/Manchester and a travelling fellow in Cornea at Singapore National Eye Centre.

He has been a consultant in Forth Valley since 1999 – including 10 years as Clinical Lead, 10 years as Expert member Research Ethics Committee, Medical appraiser and Clinical Supervisor for undergraduates and specialist trainees.

Dr Scott is an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow for ophthalmology and an expert adviser for NHS Education Scotland consultant appointment committees. He has contributed to a number of publications and presentations on a wide range of subjects and to varied audiences; is a peer review for learned journals; expert adviser for the Scottish Medicines Consortium and the founder clinician of multidisciplinary low vision clinic, Forth Valley Sensory Centre.
