Mr James Harvey

Personal profile

Mr James Harvey is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the Nightingale & Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Centre, in the University Hospital of South Manchester. The Nightingale Centre is nationally recognised as a centre of excellence for breast cancer treatment and is one of the largest units in the UK. Mr Harvey graduated in 1999, commencing his Breast Surgery training in 2000 in the Northern Deanery. During training, he completed a prestigious TIG National Fellowship in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, under the tutorage of leading Plastic and Breast Reconstructive Surgeons in Sheffield.

He completed his surgical training in 2012 and was appointed as a Consultant at the University Hospital of South Manchester. His specialist area within the NHS is exclusively breast disease and breast related problems, i.e. breast cancer surgery, breast reconstruction, aesthetic breast surgery and lipomodelling/fat transfer. He is pleased to provide advice about breast cancer, second opinions and diagnosis of any breast symptom causing concern.

Mr Harvey is an active trainer, participating in the teaching of trainee breast and plastic surgeons at both local and national levels. Mr Harvey is author of the Oxford Handbook of Breast Disease Management and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He has research interests in the areas of breast reconstruction outcomes and breast cancer.
