Mr Jan Dmitrewski is a Consultant Surgeon based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham University Hospitals NHS Foundation trust.
He is a general and upper GI surgeon, and his areas of clinical interest include gallstones, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair and general surgery. He also has extensive experience in surgery for gastric and oesophageal cancer.

Mr Dmitrewski qualified from the Warsaw Medical School in Poland in 1984. He moved to the UK in 1989 and undertook registrar and senior registrar training in the West Midlands. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1991. His surgical training included a period of research at the Birmingham Liver Unit and he was awarded Doctor of Medicine degree in 1997 by the University of Birmingham.

He has 21 years of experience as a consultant surgeon and has performed over 1200 laparoscopic cholecystectomies and over 300 upper GI cancer resections. He is an examiner for the Intercollegiate Specialty Board in General Surgery.

Mr Dmitrewski is married to a consultant surgeon and they have grown-up children. He enjoys gardening, travelling and skiing.
