Ms Jane Thompson has been practising in the field of voice since she qualified more than 20 years ago. She has worked in joint voice clinics and also SLT led voice clinics, diagnosing and treating voice disorders. Ms Thompson has also lectured at The University of Manchester, provided supervision to students, taught on British Voice Association Days and for ENT trainees. Ms Thompson also treats head and neck cancer patients, including laryngectomy. She works at the Manchester Royal Infirmary as a Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in Voice and Head and Neck Cancer.
Ms Thompson is able to treat a wide variety of voice disorders using her experience and training in therapy approaches including Estill, Accent Method, Voicecraft, CBT, and Laryngeal Manual Therapy. In her NHS work she performs nasendoscopy and stroboscopy to assess and diagnose voice problems. She also has highly specialist competencies in Head and Neck Cancer, where she work with laryngectomees, and patients who have had surgery or radiotherapy treatments, to help maximise their speech and swallowing.
