Mr Mathias was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Withybush Hospital, Pembrokeshire in early 2010. He has a special interest in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, laparoscopic hernia and peri-anal surgery including HALO procedure for Haemorrhoids.

Mr Mathias graduated from Madras, India and completed his Masters in General Surgery 1992. His surgical training was in the Midlands at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham and following this, he graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow in 1998. He undertook his Higher Surgical training as a specialist registrar in South Thames, London and undertook his research in colorectal surgery.  During his training he developed a special interest in minimally invasive surgery and peri-anal surgery. His last three years of training was spent in reputed laparoscopic units to hone his skills. The units include the MATTU at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, Frimley Park Hospital and St. Georges University Hospital NHS Trust, London.

Mr Mathias has published various papers in reputed journals and also presented at National and International conferences.
