Personal profile

Mr John De Leeuw qualified in 1986 from Wits University, Johannesburg. He went on to complete his junior surgical training at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital in Eastern Cape and then his orthopaedic training at Baragwanath Hospital, Johannesburg.

He has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Hillbrow Hospital, Johannesburg, Falkirk and District Royal Infirmary, Stirling Royal Infirmary and has worked at Forth Valley Royal Hospital since 2011. He has also worked privately from BMI Kings Park Hospital since 1996.

Mr De Leeuw has been the Orthopaedic Service Lead and Clinical Director of Surgical Services Forth Valley and has extensive Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery experience concentrating on the lower limbs.

  • Predominantly lower limb elective orthopaedic surgery
  • Extensive experience in arthroscopic knee surgery including meniscal surgery and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction
  • Extensive experience in forefoot surgery involving bunions and great toe surgery, lesser toes and rheumatoid forefoot reconstruction
  • Happy to carry out only minor procedures in other anatomical areas
