Mr John Henderson is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon working at the BMI Beaumont Hospital in Bolton.
Mr Henderson’s special interests include the assessment and treatment of adult hip and knee problems, the assessment of children’s hip, knee and foot, spinal and upper limb problems. He carries out hip and knee surgery including total hip and knee replacements, and arthroscopic knee surgery.
Mr Henderson is an Expert Medical Witness and undertakes Medicolegal work dealing with personal injury and clinical negligence cases. He served on the Medicolegal Committee of the British Orthopaedic Association.
Mr Henderson qualified from the Victoria University, Manchester in 1976. He underwent surgical training in Stoke-on-Trent, Bristol and Newcastle-upon-Tyne before attaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1982. He then undertook specialist orthopaedic training in Manchester, Salford, Preston, Wrightington Hip Centre and the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, Australia.
Mr Henderson was a Consultant at the Royal Bolton Hospital from 1990 to 2015 and continues in clinical practice at The Beaumont Hospital.
Whilst working at the Royal Bolton Hospital Mr Henderson served as Clinical Director of Specialist Surgery. He has served as secretary of the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association and secretary of the North West Orthopaedic Association. He was President of the North West Medical Engineering Society. He was also the surgical tutor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England between 2005 and 2013 and is an examiner for the Final Fellowship Examination in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Mr Henderson was President of the Bolton and District Medical Society from 2013 to 2014 and was awarded North West Trainer of the year for 2013-2014. He also continues to carry out research and publish articles on adult and children’s orthopaedics and trauma.
