Mr Telfer graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1985. Following initial training in surgery in general, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1991. His experience in Plastic Surgery began in 1991 in Glasgow, with further appointments in London and Edinburgh. He successfully obtained the Intercollegiate Plastic Surgery Fellowship in 1999 and returned to Glasgow to complete his training in 2000.
Mr Telfer was appointed as an NHS Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 2001. He has considerable experience in a wide range of Plastic Surgery, including Skin Cancer, Burns, Trauma, Hand Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery. His specialist interest however is in Gynaecological and Perineal Reconstruction, working with the local Gynaecological and Colorectal Surgeons. In recognition for his work in this field he has been an invited lecturer at Plastic Surgery, Gynaecological and Urological meetings throughout the UK and a spokesman for the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons.
He began working in Private Practice in 2001 and has a developed a broad-based practice, but his main areas of interest are Cosmetic Breast Surgery, Abdominoplasty, and Cosmetic Gynaecological Surgery.
