Mr Jonathan Dearing

Personal profile

Jon originally trained in dentistry, working as a maxillofacial surgeon in the RAF before studying medicine and gaining qualifications in sports medicine. He played representative rugby union for the RAF and Bedford. He has undertaken Fellowship training in knee and shoulder surgery, and provides the complex knee ligament reconstruction and knee osteotomy service for Ayrshire. Jon performs the Attune knee replacement. He also uses the internal brace system which allows ligament repair, including of the anterior cruciate ligament. Jon also provides an arthroscopic surgery service for shoulder problems.

Jon is a council member of the Faculty of Sports and exercise medicine and is the lead for physical activity promotion at the Royal college of surgeons of Edinburgh. He is an examiner in postgraduate surgery and sports medicine.
